Description | Pullman 1953 Beverages Menu - Three (3) Musketeers Cover, used on the California Zephyr (CZ). Inaugurated in 1949, the California Zephyr ran over the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) from Chicago to Denver, CO, the Denver and Rio Grande Western (D&RGW) Railroad between Denver and Salt Lake City, UT, and the Western Pacific (WP) Railroad from Salt Lake City to Oakland, California. The Three Musketeers cover art was widely used on Pullman Beverage Menus from the early to late 1950s. A rare menu the date code indicates that only 200 (BV-35-T-2C-H53) copies were printed (C = 100) in August of 1953 (H53). Two riders are glued to this menu - in the upper left corner, one advertises a Tasty Snack or Planters Cocktail Salted Peanuts - Ind. Vacuum packed 4 oz. can for 35 cents. In the upper right corner the passenger is advised to "For your enjoyment, try a Grand Marnier Cordial, Specially priced (individual bottle) 40c." |
